Redesign: LinkedIn Feed

Project Type

Unsolicited UX concept (mobile)

Problem

The home feed is a continuous scroll of non-specific, low-intent content.

  • Mixed audiences

  • Mixed goals

  • No clear answer to “Why am I here right now?”

Result: passive scrolling, low value, user fatigue.

Insight

Users open LinkedIn with a specific intention (jobs, learning, networking), but the interface does not acknowledge or support that intent.

Concept

Intent-first home screen

The home feed becomes a decision moment, not a default scroll.

Solution

On app open, users select their goal before seeing content.

Intent options:

  • Find Opportunities

  • Learn & Grow

  • Network

  • Post / Build Presence

  • Browse Industry News

Selecting an intent unlocks a purpose-specific feed.

Outcome

  • Reduced cognitive load

  • More relevant content per session

  • Scroll with purpose, not habit

Design Focus

This is a behavioural redesign, not a visual refresh: prioritising user intent, clarity, and meaningful engagement.

One-Line Summary

Redesigning LinkedIn’s home feed to replace passive scrolling with an intent-driven experience.
